Teaser 1 of COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN STORYBOARDS, Episode 02 Part 1: Melee At The Bus Stop. This is a short motion board film that combines elements of film storyboards and pre-visualization animatics together with graphic novel storytelling style.
This production is the ongoing collaboration of a group of storyboard artists. Our goal is to produce a motion comic/motion board serial to tell a story on COVID-19 pandemic.
In Episode 02, the PLAGUE DOCTOR reveals that what is shown in Episode 01 is not what really happened. Pandemonium and melee started at the bus stop, spreading to total disorder in the streets. The Police showed up but couldn't handle the situation, so the National Guard was called in.
This story was conceived, created and designed before the recent human-rights protests that expanded across the U.S. and the world. Production of Part 2 started on May 8, 2020 and the last board was done on May 31st, 2020. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Public protests of police brutality ensued after that. While this story is fictional work, there are many similarities it has to reality, intentionally or not.
There were 7 collaborating storyboard artists participating: Jean-Claude De La Ronde • Cuong Huynh • Bobby Khounphaysane • Vince Mancuso • Jeremy Mchugh • Chad Pickrel • Stephen Rustad
