Project 1: Minimum 150 cubes in space, line work only

In this video artist Vince Mancuso talks about perspective. Perspective can be reduced down to one word convergence. Parallel lines that move away from the picture plan have to converge to a point in space.

Every 3D object has a X Y Z axis. The cube is your most reliable form, when trying to find the X Y Z axis. This demo shows you how to find the X Y Z axis using a c

isometric vs convergence in perspective drawing

Draw cubes decisively. Don't spend more than 2 hours on this, remember we want to build control through repetition.

The goal in this assignment is to work like your in a race against time. Remember you are drawing cubes, so they have to look like cubes. Don't focus on getting it right, focus on it looking right, there is a difference. You want the perception of a cube, not a perfect cube. The reason for this is to develop the ability to create the illusion of correctness, fast. You are pre visualizing ideas quickly, this skill is essential to concept development. If it isn't right, think of what you did wrong , and correct on the next try. This exercise is designed to develop decisive decision making and to reduce things down to the essential elements. Draw so you can see through the cubes is recommended. You a starting to train your brain to see in 3D. Remember that More is best and perfection is not the goal.
