6 essential values needed to create the illusion of 3D light on three basic forms: 1.CUBE 2.CYLINDER 3. SPHERE.
Apply the four main values first, light, shadow, core shadow and cast shadow and finish with highlights and finally reflected light.
How to establish cast shadows on a ground plan and how to create them when they are in space.
There are six values. Four are the foundation. You have to have these four values. I. light 2. shadow 3. core shadow 4. cast shadow. the last two values are the BLING! 1. highlight is the brightest the reflected light is the lightest value in the shadow.
Once you have drawn out your cubes, establish one light source and based on that light source apply 3D values on all the cubes. Apply one value at a time, this is more efficient and will save time.
Project 2 is a repeat of Project 1, with the addition of shading. Your grey values that you have selected for your palette, should work together to create your desired impact. Apply the foundation values, Light, Shadow and core shadow , do one at a time, it is faster. Always think, how can I be efficient. When you have completely applied the first three values, go back and apply cast shadow, highlights, and reflected light. Remember speed is god, when you are efficient you are faster. Use one light source, this creates the illusion of reality that everyone understands and simplifies the identification of where to apply the values. Remember to work fast and not to spend more than 2 hours on the drawing.
